How to watch Man Utd on TV in the UK: 2026/27 guide

To watch Man Utd on TV in the UK this season you'll need more than one subscription: the Premier League is split between Sky Sports and TNT Sports, the Champions League between TNT Sports and Amazon Prime Video, the FA Cup between TNT and the BBC, and the Carabao Cup is on Sky. And a Saturday 3pm kick-off isn't on live UK television at all. Here's who shows what in 2026/27, and where to find the free highlights.

Last checked 19 October 2026. TV picks get announced in batches and kick-off times move, so always check the fixture close to the day.

Premier League: Sky Sports and TNT Sports

The 2025-29 domestic deal, worth a record £6.7bn, gives Sky Sports at least 215 live games a season: more than 140 weekend matches, the Friday and Monday night games, three midweek rounds and all ten games on the final day. TNT Sports has 52 games a season, built around the exclusive Saturday 12.30pm slot plus two midweek rounds.

Every game outside the Saturday 3pm window is now shown live, including the Sunday 2pm games moved because of European fixtures, as Yahoo Sport's explainer on the deal sets out. Amazon lost its Premier League package in that auction, so Prime Video doesn't show United's league games any more.

If you don't want a Sky box, Sky's games are available through NOW, as Flashscore's 2026/27 guide notes. TNT Sports moved its streaming home from discovery+ to HBO Max on 26 March, and it's also sold as an add-on through Sky, BT and Virgin Media, per Groupon's price round-up. Prices change constantly, so check before you sign anything with a 12-month minimum term.

The Saturday 3pm blackout

No football can be shown live on UK television between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on a Saturday. The rule goes back to the 1960s, when Burnley chairman Bob Lord argued that live TV would hurt attendances lower down the pyramid, and it rests on Article 48 of UEFA's statutes, which lets each country pick a protected slot. Yahoo Sport reports it stays protected until the current deal ends in 2029.

So if United are at 3pm on a Saturday, your options are being there, the radio, or the highlights that evening. There's no legal live stream in the UK. Plenty of United's 3pm games end up moved anyway once the broadcasters pick them, which is why the date on the original fixture list means very little until the TV selections are out.

Champions League: TNT Sports and Prime Video

United are back in the Champions League this season, though last week's 2-0 defeat in Madrid was nothing worth paying to watch. This is also the last season of the current UK deal. TNT Sports shows the majority of games, including the final in Madrid on 5 June 2027. Prime Video has 17 games, taking the first pick of the Tuesday night fixtures, under a deal that runs through the 2026-27 campaign.

That Tuesday first pick matters. When United play on a Tuesday and it's a big game, there's a fair chance it's on Prime rather than TNT, so check the listing before you assume your TNT subscription covers it.

From 2027/28 it all changes again: Paramount has won the majority of UK Champions League rights for four years, with Amazon keeping one Tuesday game. Another new subscription, in other words. Bear that in mind before you lock into a long TNT contract.

Free highlights of each Champions League matchday are on the BBC, per both MoneySuperMarket and Groupon's guide.

FA Cup: TNT Sports and the BBC

TNT Sports is the main FA Cup broadcaster from 2025-26, with the BBC as its free-to-air partner for four years. Both show early-round ties and quarter-finals, each takes one semi-final, and both show the final. Ties that don't fall in the 3pm blackout are shown live, and Sportcal confirms the BBC package runs through 2028-29. United enter in the third round, so the draw decides whether you're watching on the BBC for free or paying TNT.

Carabao Cup: Sky Sports

Sky's five-year EFL deal, from 2024/25 to 2028/29, covers every one of the 93 Carabao Cup matches each season. Non-Sky customers can watch through a NOW day or month membership, per the same announcement.

Highlights: Match of the Day

The BBC has highlights rights for all 380 Premier League games every season, so every United league game, 3pm or not, turns up on Match of the Day or Match of the Day 2 and on BBC iPlayer. You need a TV licence to watch on iPlayer.

Watching United on telly this season costs a small fortune for the privilege of seeing a side that's had its worst start in 40 years. That's not the broadcasters' fault. But it's worth knowing exactly which subscriptions you need before you pay for three of them.

Sacking Carrick won't fix what's wrong at Man Utd

The Carrick sack talk is loud after Leeds, but one league win in seven is about the squad and the people who built it as much as the man picking the team.
